Grim Fandango Remastered App Reviews

I loved this game 15 years ago. And It ran better on Windows XP. It keeps crashing on my MacBook Pro, OS X 10.10.5. Shame, Oh well, guess I better go hit the bricks!

This is beautiful and heart warming story with many puzzles for a strategic mind and problem solving type. Works beautifully on my mac air and would highly recommend for players of all ages

I had not expected such a challenging game with well-thought-out puzzles. One or two of them were a bit over the top (the forklift) and there was one bugged-up spot (the boat), where I had to cheat, but otherwise very though-provoking. A good dose of humor and a great (if not slightly oddly set) storyline nets Grim Fandango five stars.

This was a game that I realy enjoyed playing more than a decade ago. When I have seen that it was remastered I rushed to play it again. Playing was joyfull as the first time. But there are few bugs. At least this time there were no need to a "forklift patch”. A nice classic, I recommend it.

It’s perfect. Not a step out from original, and there’s no need to install some horribly obsolete OS to run it. Most probably, it’s the best adventure quest ever. Cute graphics (extremely stylish!), movie-grade sound, and great-must-see-movie scenario: deep, consistent, and heart touching. If you haven’t play it before, don’t waste time, go for it definitely, it’s must play. Otherwise, you’ll be as happy as me to have it nice and handy again.

Please, please write system requirements here on the app page. I have bought it and I love it, but on my older white macbook, late 2009, nvidia 9400, I can only play the original version, the remastered one lags a lot and ends up freezing :(

A masterpiece in its genre, but...

The game crashes continuously. It seems to me that the game suffers from some graphics issue. Please fix.

The game hangs after speaking with Chepito, while trying to get its lamp. There are no updates till now to solve this problem. The only support you give is a forum??? Really??? If you solve this problem, I would give 5 stars.

Fav of all times

Favorite game until today, I wonder if there’s any other I can enjoy as much as this one. I didn’t experience any crush or bug.

Back in the 1998 I reviewed Grim Fandango for the PC as a staff writer from the Miami Herald. I had a video game weekly review, (the only one at the time in newspapers) that I have high marks for it’s use of colors, dialogue, setting and just a game that you had to invest sometime into. Well worth it then and now! This game at the time used 2 CDs that you had to swap back and forth. I also interviewed the creators from LucasArts and also visited ILM and Skywalker Ranch. Bravo I hope more classic games from the 90s makes it to the mac real soon.

Don’t hate me. I know I’m in the minority here, but this game has the most obscure, annoying clues of all time. And it drags on so badly trying to figure out what to do with all the collected items, that you lose track of what’s even going on. Glottis is the most annoying character and you have no choice but to listen to him huffing and puffing and making stupid noises. I finally just deleted it from my computer. I give up.

Looking forward to completing the game. I never did on the PC back then and forgot about it. I’m sure it’s laying around in a box some where. I gave up on Windows long ago, should look beautiful on OS X!

Ah, the classic game has returned and is now available on the Mac. Purchase immediately. The experience is deeply rewarding, the settings are fascinating and the game itself is, well, a true work of genius...

This was one of my favorite games back in the 90’s, so I had to buy the remastered version. It’s still gorgeous, the dialogue is still amusing, the story is still fantastic, and the game is still fun. There are points here or there where one might hope for a bit more resolution or less dithering, but I just chalk it up to retro-ness. I think the focus on Olivia as she recites the Grim Fandango poem in the Blue Casket is new — I don’t remember the camera panning around her Eurovision-style in the original. Another bonus: there’s no need to swap CD’s like back in the old days :)

Super Fun!

Super fun game! Highly reccommend! It is like an adult version of the games your played when you were younger: spy fox, pajama sam etc.

This is one of those games I would purchase without a second thought. Great story, great game play, and revolutionary graphic (at the time). Now it would be a treat to play this in retina resolution!

Absolutely worth the money. Ive thoroughly enjoyed every minute playing this game. Now that it’s on Mac, it’s even better! It takes me back to 1998 and it’s actually amazing how vividly I remember the dialogue and the story line. This game is a true work of genius, and if you’ve never played it, you should. You won’t regret it.
